Eight people, including a two-year-old girl, died and over 20 were injured when a private bus fell into a drain after crashing through a bridge railing near Jiwan Singh Wala village in Bathinda, Punjab. The bus was traveling from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda when it lost control, possibly due to high speed and inclement weather. Rescue efforts, including the National Disaster Response Force, were launched immediately. Prime Minister Modi and President Murmu expressed condolences and offered financial compensation to the victims' families.
