A 30-year-old cold case of sexual assault on two 11-year-old girls in Port Angeles, Washington, was solved in 2023 with the help of forensic genetic genealogy. Police identified the suspect, Kim John Cederleaf, who died in 2013, through DNA preserved from his autopsy. This breakthrough came after extensive investigations since the 1988 incident.
