African elephant Donna, a long-time resident at the Oakland Zoo since 1990, died suddenly at age 44 at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, where she was transferred last year. Donna's death came after staff noticed a change in her behavior on Christmas Eve. The zoo described her as a beloved member of their family. A necropsy is being conducted to determine the cause of her passing.
