Southern California enacts wood-burning ban to combat air pollution, with some exemptions.
A wood-burning ban is in effect across much of Southern California, including non-desert parts of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and all of Orange County, to reduce air pollution.
The ban runs until 11:59 p.m. Friday and exempts mountain areas above 3,000 feet, the Coachella Valley, the high desert, homes relying solely on wood for heat, low-income households, and those without natural gas service.
