Queensland reports highest road deaths in a decade, urging drivers to avoid risky behaviors.
Queensland reached its highest road fatality rate in a decade in 2022, with 299 lives lost, after an 83-year-old man died in a Christmas Day crash in Logan. Police Minister Dan Purdie urged drivers to avoid the "Fatal Five" behaviors: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seat belts, driving while fatigued, and driving distracted. Over 6,000 people have been injured in crashes this year.
