Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away at 92, faced legal challenges over his role in a coal block allocation to Hindalco. In 2015, he was summoned as an accused, but the Supreme Court intervened and stayed the directive. By 2017, he was cleared of any wrongdoing, with the court ruling that he had acted based on the recommendations of the coal secretary, HC Gupta.
