Chinese technology boosts Kenya's geothermal power, benefiting half a million households.

China's advanced technology is boosting Kenya's geothermal power output, providing clean and affordable electricity to thousands. The Sosian geothermal plant, built with Chinese technology, has been operational for over a year and generates 38.5 MW annually. A new 35-MW plant, Orpower 22, is under construction, expected to enhance Kenya's green energy transition and benefit around 500,000 households and 300,000 small businesses. The project is part of the Menengai geothermal project, which aims to harness Kenya's geothermal resources, now accounting for over 50% of the country's power mix.
