China has started a safeguard investigation into imported beef to protect its domestic industry, following a 106.28% increase in imports in the first half of 2024 compared to 2019. The investigation, prompted by industry associations, covers imports from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2024, and is expected to conclude within eight months, though this could be extended.
