Senior Al-Shabab leader Mohamed Mire was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Somalia.

Al-Shabab, an Al-Qaeda-linked Somali militant group, confirmed the death of senior leader Mohamed Mire in a U.S. drone strike near Kunyo Barrow in Somalia's Lower Shabelle region. Mire, designated as a terrorist by the U.S. in 2022, played a key role in the group's decision-making and led its interior wing. The Somali government confirmed the strike and vowed to continue fighting Al-Shabab, which still controls parts of southern and central Somalia.
