Turkish court sentences hotel owner and architect to over 18 years for roles in earthquake deaths.

A Turkish court has sentenced the owner and architect of the Isias Grand Hotel, which collapsed during the 2023 earthquake killing 72 people, to over 18 years in prison each. The earthquake, which killed over 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria, left 1.5 million homeless and damaged over 160,000 buildings. The Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister criticized the sentences as too lenient.
