Angel Blue stars as Aida in the Met's new production of Verdi's opera, opening on New Year's Eve.

American soprano Angel Blue will perform the title role of Aida in the Metropolitan Opera's first new production of Verdi's opera in 36 years, opening on New Year's Eve. As a leading figure at the Met, Blue, who was dubbed "the next Leontyne Price" by her father, takes on the demanding role of an enslaved Ethiopian princess, known for its historical significance for Black sopranos. Conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the performance will also feature Piotr Beczala, Judit Kutasi, and Quinn Kelsey. The show will be broadcast live in HD on January 25.
