Ghana's president unveils largest naval ship and new base to boost maritime security.

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned the country's largest naval ship, the GNS Achimota, and the Ezinlibo Forward Operating Base on December 23, 2024. These assets are part of Ghana's efforts to modernize its navy, combat piracy and illegal fishing, and protect its maritime resources. The GNS Achimota, built in Japan, is designed to enhance Ghana's maritime capabilities and ensure safer waters for trade.
