World Bank and EBRD fund projects to build a solar plant and transmission line in Uzbekistan, boosting clean energy.

The World Bank has approved a $3.5 million financing guarantee to support the construction of a 100 MW solar power plant in Uzbekistan, set to be operational by November 2025. This plant will generate 240 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by over 230,000 tons and powering about 60,000 households. Additionally, the EBRD is providing a $66.4 million loan to build a 230-kilometer high-voltage transmission line to improve electricity reliability and integrate more renewable energy sources. These projects are part of Uzbekistan's broader efforts to transition to a green economy.
