TRAI updates rules to require separate voice and SMS plans for non-data users, extending recharge coupon validity to a year.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has updated its tariff rules to require mobile providers to offer separate plans for voice calls and SMS for customers who don't use data.
This change extends the validity of special recharge coupons from 90 to 365 days and allows operators to issue vouchers of any value, with a minimum of Rs 10.
The move aims to give more options to consumers who don't need data plans.
