Putin hosts CIS and Eurasian Economic Union meetings, with Iran gaining observer status.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will host several international meetings in Russia's Leningrad Region from December 24 to 26. These include an informal meeting of CIS leaders on December 25 and a Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting on December 26, chaired by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The latter will discuss the Eurasian Economic Union's progress, including increased GDP and trade, and will grant Iran observer status. Belarus will take over the EAEU chairmanship from Armenia in January.
