Kenyan official dismisses claims of government using illicit alcohol to sway 2027 election as baseless.

Kenyan Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo dismissed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's claims that the government is targeting the Mt. Kenya region with illicit alcohol to reduce voters before the 2027 election as baseless and politically motivated. Omollo emphasized that the government does not produce, distribute, or sell alcohol and urged Gachagua to provide evidence and file an official complaint. The government is also implementing a 25-point action plan to combat illicit alcohol and protect communities during the festive season.
