Worcestershire's M5 speed cameras issued over 27,000 fines in two years, targeting a 50mph zone.

Data from Freedom of Information requests shows that Worcestershire's busiest speed cameras, mainly on the M5 motorway, issued over 27,000 fines from 2022 to 2024. The 50mph temporary speed limit between Junction 6 and Junction 4a on the M5 caught many speeding drivers, though Junction 8 surpassed it in 2024. Police have issued 6,161 fixed penalty fines, totaling at least £610,100, to drivers who pleaded guilty. The cameras aim to improve road safety by discouraging speeding.
