Mother sues school district for $200M after son, 8, dies at unsafe bus stop on first day of school.

Eight-year-old Jayson "J.J." Hoogeveen was killed while waiting at an unsafe bus stop on his first day of school. His mother, Kimberly Gilbert, is suing Traverse City Area Public Schools and others for over $200 million, alleging indifference to children's safety and civil rights. The lawsuit follows years of parental complaints about the dangerous bus stop location. TCAPS has not commented due to pending litigation.
