Fiona Wood becomes first female Countdown champion in 26 years, winning the iconic UK game show.
Fiona Wood, a 50-year-old forensic accountant from Scotland, has become the first female champion of Channel 4's Countdown in 26 years, following a surge in female applicants after host Colin Murray and lexicographer Susie Dent called for more women to participate.
Wood narrowly beat Chris Kirby in the 90th series final with a score of 96 to 89.
Countdown, which first aired in 1982, has previously had five female champions, with the last being in 1998.
