UK plans £889 million investment in GP services to enhance patient care and reduce bureaucracy.

The UK government plans to invest an additional £889 million in general practice to improve patient care and reduce bureaucracy. Under the proposed 2025/26 GP contract, financial incentives will be given to GPs who ensure patients see the same doctor at each appointment, particularly those with complex needs. The number of performance targets will be cut from 76 to 44 to allow GPs more time with patients. The British Medical Association is reviewing the proposals.
