Residents in Jacksonville's Northside await slow hazardous ash cleanup at Lonnie Miller Park, part of a $12M project.

Residents in Northside Jacksonville are frustrated with the slow cleanup of hazardous ash at Lonnie Miller Park, left from early 20th century waste incineration. As part of Project New Ground, the city is addressing this contamination with the Ash Remediation Project. The cleanup is expected to take a year, with the first phase of removing contaminated soil underway and the second phase, park remodeling, projected to cost over $12 million.
