Former MP Nancy Karetak-Lindell appointed to Nunavut's Senate seat by Prime Minister Trudeau.

Nancy Karetak-Lindell, the first Member of Parliament for Nunavut, has been appointed to fill Nunavut's Senate seat by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Elected in 1997, Karetak-Lindell played a key role in establishing Nunavut as a separate territory and served as a parliamentary secretary and president of the Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada. Her appointment follows the retirement of former Nunavut Senator Dennis Patterson.
