Teen sentenced to over 9 years for fatal crash after inhaling laughing gas while speeding.
A 19-year-old, Thomas Johnson, was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison for causing a fatal crash that killed three passengers after inhaling nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, while driving at excessive speeds. The crash occurred when Johnson's car, traveling over 100mph on a 30mph road, hit a tree. Nitrous oxide canisters were found in the car, and footage showed Johnson inhaling the substance before the crash. Although nitrous oxide was legal at the time, it was later banned for recreational use in the UK.
