A portrait of Bass Reeves, a former slave who became a renowned U.S. Marshal in the American West, has been unveiled at the Arkansas State Capitol. Reeves, known for his integrity and for arresting over 3,000 criminals, is the first Black person and first non-governor to be honored with a portrait in the Capitol. His legacy as a key figure in Arkansas's history is now on display to inspire future generations.
