A male opossum, posing a health risk, was captured in Honolulu and will be euthanized for testing.

In Honolulu, a male opossum was captured at a big-box store in Iwilei, marking the third such capture this year. After a report on December 12, Department of Agriculture inspectors set traps and found the animal. Due to its unknown origin, it will be euthanized for rabies testing. Opossums, native to North America, can carry parasites and diseases, posing a threat to Hawaii's ecosystem.
