Kerala reports two monkeypox cases; patients returned from the UAE and are in isolation.

Kerala reports two cases of monkeypox, both returning from the UAE. The patients are being treated in isolation at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital in Kannur. Health Minister Veena George has convened a Rapid Response Team and urged those who came into contact with the patients to monitor themselves for 21 days. Unlike airborne diseases, monkeypox spreads through direct physical contact. The World Health Organization classified it as a public health emergency due to its prevalence, especially in Africa.
