Pakistan may cut electricity costs by Rs.0.63 per unit, offering relief to consumers in January.

Pakistan's National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is expected to reduce power tariffs by up to Rs.0.63 per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment for November 2024. This potential cut, if approved at a public hearing on December 31, will lead to refunds in January bills, offering relief to electricity consumers. The reduction follows lower fuel costs and increased use of hydropower and domestic fuel sources. The government aims to further reduce tariffs by Rs12 per unit by March 2025 through negotiations with power producers and restructuring contracts.
