Norristown's first Black female police chief resigned after nearly a year amid undisclosed reasons.

Norristown Police Chief Jacqueline Bailey-Davis, the first Black female in the role, resigned on December 17, 2024, just short of her one-year anniversary. Bailey-Davis was placed on administrative leave last month, and the reasons for her resignation remain undisclosed. Under her leadership, crime rates were stable except for a 40% rise in robberies. The police department will continue normal operations while seeking a new chief.
