New Zealand's Prevar and Canada's Okanagan Specialty Fruits (OSF) are partnering to develop advanced breeding technologies for apples and pears using genome editing. The multi-year initiative, involving Plant & Food Research, aims to create fruit cultivars with better pest resistance, reduced food waste, and enhanced nutrition. The first products are expected in 2029.
