Japan's Seven & i Holdings plans to open 500 new convenience stores in the U.S. and Canada by 2027, aiming for 100,000 stores globally by 2030. The company, which currently has over 15,000 stores in North America, also plans to close 444 underperforming stores. Amid a competing takeover bid from Canada's Alimentation Couche-Tard, the Ito family, owning the company, seeks to raise over $6.52 billion from a North American business listing.
