France's long-delayed Flamanville 3 nuclear reactor, now costing 13.2 billion euros, will start up on Dec 20, 2024.

France's Flamanville 3 EPR nuclear reactor, delayed for 12 years, will start operating on December 20, 2024, after costs quadrupled to 13.2 billion euros from an initial 3.3 billion euros due to technical issues. Operated by EDF, it's the fourth of its kind globally and will supply electricity to up to two million homes. French President Emmanuel Macron aims to boost nuclear power by ordering additional reactors.
