DP World begins constructing a $1.2 billion port in Senegal, aiming to boost trade and create jobs.

DP World, a Dubai-based company, has started building a $1.2 billion port in Ndayane, Senegal, aiming to make Senegal a major global trade center. The first phase includes an 840-meter quay and a 5-kilometer channel for large container ships, with capacity to handle 1.2 million TEUs annually. The project, in collaboration with British International Investment, is expected to boost Senegal’s GDP by 3% and create over 1,800 jobs during construction, supporting 2.3 million jobs once operational.
