Dublin traders challenge city council's traffic restrictions, claiming they exceed powers and harm economy.

Dublin traders, led by solicitor Noel Smyth, have been granted a judicial review to challenge the city council's traffic restrictions in the city center. They argue the measures, which ban private vehicles in certain areas, exceed the council's powers and will harm the economy by reducing retail spending and leading to over 6,000 job losses, with an overall negative impact of €390 million. The traders also claim the council's chief executive lacked the authority to implement the traffic plan.
