DOE removes Grain Belt Express and Midwest Plains Corridor from national transmission program due to opposition.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has removed the Grain Belt Express transmission line from its National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors program, which offers financial assistance and permits for power projects. Despite this, the project, proposed by Invenergy to run from Kansas to Indiana, will continue as it has state approvals. The DOE has also dropped the Midwest Plains Corridor in Kansas, reducing its list to three corridors after facing opposition from landowners and lawmakers concerned about federal overreach and property rights.
