WeChat, operated by Tencent Holdings, has taken action against accounts using AI to create deepfake videos of celebrities for marketing purposes. The platform has shut down 209 accounts and removed 532 pieces of such content. WeChat plans to enhance its efforts to combat this misuse of AI, as Chinese regulators have also tightened scrutiny and implemented new guidelines for identifying deepfake content.
