South Lakes Safari Zoo will close by year-end amid animal welfare concerns and land disputes.

South Lakes Safari Zoo in Cumbria will close at the end of December, following years of welfare concerns and disputes. The zoo faced allegations of animal neglect and deaths, which were denied by the operators, Cumbria Zoo Company Limited (CZCL). The zoo has welcomed over 3 million visitors since opening in 2014 but will shut down amid ongoing issues and a land dispute with the Zoo Investment Company.
