Singapore reports a significant rise in arrests for illegal employment and immigration offenses in 2024.

In the first nine months of 2024, Singapore saw a 31.6% rise in arrests for harboring or employing immigration offenders, totaling 304 individuals, up from 231 in the same period of 2023. Most offenders were work pass holders whose permits had lapsed or been canceled, engaging in illegal employment. Arrests for illegal entry and overstaying also increased to 587 from 357 in 2022. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) conducts about 60 enforcement operations monthly to combat illegal immigration.
