Proton, Malaysia's national car brand, launches its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, aiming to boost EV sales.

Malaysian automaker Proton launched its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, on December 16. The launch aligns with Malaysia's goal for EVs and hybrids to account for 20% of new car sales by 2030. Proton, majority-owned by DRB HICOM and partly by Zhejiang Geely, offers the e.MAS 7 in two variants priced at RM109,800 and RM123,800. The move follows similar entries by brands like BYD, Tesla, and Stellantis in the Malaysian market.
