North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper awarded Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour the state's highest honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, after the team's 4-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The award recognizes significant contributions to the state and community. Brind'Amour, in his seventh season as coach, was also captain of the team's only Stanley Cup-winning season in 2006.
