St. Joseph approves tax breaks for a $600K hotel project in a historic library building.

St. Joseph City Commissioners approved a 12-year tax abatement for a boutique hotel project at the former St. Joseph library on Main Street. Owners Shannon Kutchek and John Kenna plan to renovate the building into a six-room hotel with a speakeasy-style lounge, rooftop deck, and a patio, preserving original features like bookshelves and woodwork. The project, costing around $600,000, aims to be completed by summer's end.
