A researcher leads efforts to uncover and preserve Cheung Chau's role in a WWII rescue mission.

A 78-year-old researcher, Chen Kaixin, is leading a team to uncover the wartime history of Cheung Chau, a Hong Kong island. In 1941, the island was a key part of a secret rescue mission by the Communist Party of China to save over 800 cultural elites and democrats from the Japanese occupation. Chen's team is working to identify historical sites and collect oral histories to preserve this lesser-known part of Cheung Chau's past.
