Gujarat allocates land to Godrej Agrovet to boost local palm oil production and cut imports.
Gujarat, India, has allocated land to Godrej Agrovet for oil palm cultivation in an effort to reduce reliance on imported vegetable oil, of which India is the second-largest consumer and top importer. The move, part of the Palm Oil Mission, aims to increase domestic palm oil production to 11.20 lakh tonnes by 2025-26. Godrej Agrovet, with over 30 years in the business, has been granted land in Vadodara, Surat, and Tapi districts.
