A Panchayat Development Officer in Karnataka, Prem Singh Naik, was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 50,000 rupees for accepting a 9,000 rupee bribe to issue a document. The Anti-Corruption Bureau caught him in a trap operation in 2019, and he was convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act. If he cannot pay the fine, he faces an additional month in prison.
