Nobel winner Geoffrey Hinton donates prize money for a new research award and water access initiatives.
Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton plans to donate part of his prize money to establish an annual $10,000 award, the Sejnowski-Hinton Prize, at the Neural Information Processing Systems conference. The prize will be awarded to teams of researchers under 40 who propose novel theories on brain function. Hinton and co-laureate John Hopfield will also donate their prize money to Water First, an organization focused on improving Indigenous access to water.
