On National Consumer Day (December 24), major e-commerce platforms like Zomato, Ajio, and Ola will adopt a Safety Pledge to enhance product safety for online shoppers. The voluntary commitment aims to detect and prevent the sale of unsafe and spurious products, cooperate with regulatory authorities, and raise awareness about product safety among sellers. This initiative, led by the Department of Consumer Affairs, addresses growing concerns in India's rapidly expanding e-commerce sector, which has over 880 million internet users and is projected to reach 500 million online shoppers by 2030.
