The Maldives bans vaping devices starting December 15, imposing fines for importation post-ban.

The Maldives will enforce a nationwide ban on vaping devices starting December 15, prohibiting their sale, distribution, and use under the amended Tobacco Control Act. Signed by President Mohamed Muizzu on November 13, the law imposes a fine of MVR 50,000 (about $3,250) for importing these devices post-ban. The government also reported a significant increase in efforts against drug trafficking, with more drug seizures and deportations in 2024 compared to the previous year.
