Kerala's Chief Minister seeks PM's help to convert a costly seaport loan into a grant.
Kerala's Chief Minister has written to India's Prime Minister requesting intervention to avoid repaying a Viability Gap Funding (VGF) loan for the Vizhinjam International Seaport project.
The Chief Minister argues that the Rs 817.80 crore funding should be a non-repayable grant, as per standard VGF guidelines, but the Finance Ministry's decision could lead to a repayment of Rs 10,000 to 12,000 crore, causing financial loss to the state.
Kerala has already invested Rs 5,554 crore in the project.
