India's fruit and veg availability per person has grown, but losses and weather issues raise food inflation.

According to a State Bank of India report, India's per capita availability of fruits and vegetables has increased by 7 kg and 12 kg, respectively, over the last decade, with significant growth in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. Despite this, around 30-35% of produce is lost due to inefficiencies in the supply chain. Extreme weather conditions have negatively impacted foodgrain production, contributing to a 3-4% rise in food inflation. Urbanization is expected to increase demand for fruits and vegetables as incomes rise in cities.
