Dallas sees rising traffic deaths, with Loop 12 a hotspot; city plans safety improvements.

Dallas has seen 207 traffic deaths this year, up from 205 in 2023, with Loop 12 being particularly dangerous, claiming 21 lives. The city plans to install over a dozen new pedestrian crossings, lower speed limits, and use new software to identify high-speed areas. Police have issued 2,500 citations and encourage reporting of reckless driving. Loop 12 has had 500 serious injury accidents and 105 fatalities in the last five years.
