US to provide up to $225M to Bosch for a new electric vehicle semiconductor plant in California.

The US Commerce Department has agreed to provide up to $225 million in subsidies to German tech company Bosch for the redevelopment of its Roseville, California, facility. Bosch plans to invest $1.9 billion to transform the site into a silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor factory, a key component for electric vehicles. The funding, part of a $52.7 billion fund, aims to boost US semiconductor production. Bosch expects to create up to 700 jobs and begin producing SiC chips by 2026.
